Keynote Presentation Luc Beaulieu - Brachytherapy as a state-of-the-art interventional oncology procedure

Brachytherapy therapy is the earliest form of radiation therapy (RT).

In this presentation, we will look back at the physics involved in brachytherapy dose delivery and demonstrate why it is the best in its class in terms of dose deposition, even when compared to proton therapy. We will further look at technologies that enabled increased efficacy of brachytherapy treatments over the last two decades and draw some parallels with other approaches. Finally, we will look briefly discuss upcoming technologies that promise to move brachytherapy to the next level.
